As United Methodists, we believe in the following basic truths of the Christian faith:

Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Savior of the world, and the Lord of all.  The hope of the world is found and experienced in Jesus Christ who is God's grace and love.  The purpose of the First United Methodist Church of Gothenburg is to be an instrument of hope, grace, and love through an intentional ministry of Christian nurture, fellowship, and mission outreach.  Because we are God's people, we participate in missions following Christ's example and teachings. The church is a creation of God composed of those who have counted on Jesus Christ as their hope and have joined in His effort that the saving grace of our Lord may be brought to fruition upon persons in our community and around the world.
