Hi, I'm Jeff Thurman, the pastor of Gothenburg UMC. My wife, Linda, and I have six children and six grandchildren (so far). I have been a United Methodist Pastor for 30 years. I grew up in Nebraska City and then went to the University of Nebraska on a track scholarship. I majored in journalism and graduated in 1979. I then attended Asbury Seminary in Wilmore Kentucky and received my Masters of Divinity Degree in 1982. Later I went to Drew School of Theology to get my Doctor of Ministry degree.
I have served churches in Harrison, Silver Creek/Fairview, Harvard, Stromsburg/Polk, and McCook. My last assignment was as a church planter in Northeast Lincoln.
I still run almost every day. I enjoy playing golf, tennis, and the guitar. I also officate highschool football in the fall. I restored a 1952 3/4 ton Chevy pickup truck that I use as my daily driver. My next project is to restore a 1991 Plymouth Laser.
Linda graduated from Sioux County High in Harrison where her father was the science teacher. Linda enjoys quilting, gardening, and singing. She also plays the organ and piano. Her favorite thing to do is to spoil our grandkids.
We are excited to be in Gothenburg and hope you will come and see us.
